We specialize in Event Photography, and recently had the privilege of capturing the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Innovare Apartments, a project by Volunteers of America Florida. This $17 million development boasts 50 affordable housing units nestled in downtown St. Petersburg.
When Volunteers of America Florida contacted Xina Scuderi Photography, led by my talented wife Xina Scuderi, to document this significant event, I eagerly stepped in to provide my expertise in Event Photography as a second shooter.
Navigating the bustling atmosphere of a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony requires finesse, especially when jostling for space alongside fellow media members and photographers. Yet, amidst the excitement, it was clear this event was more than just a ribbon cutting ceremony —it was a pivotal moment orchestrated by a coalition of non-profit organizations and elected officials. As I listened to the speakers tell their heartfelt stories, I knew I had made the right decision to not only attend with my wife but help document this milestone for the community.
Innovare symbolizes hope, offering a lifeline to those grappling with homelessness and other long-standing challenges. As the festivities unfolded, dignitaries including Mayor Ken Welch and Immediate Past Mayor Rick Kriseman, alongside US House Representative Kathy Castor, Pinellas Commissioners Charlie Justice and Rene Flowers lent their support. The presence of city leaders underscored the significance of this initiative in addressing pressing societal issues.
Experience the energy and camaraderie captured in the photos below, showcasing not just a ribbon-cutting ceremony, but a community coming together to pave the way for a brighter future. The photos below were captured by Xina Scuderi and Kyle Fleming.
