TIDA, Trucker Industry Defense Association, hosted their annual conference at Tampa Marriott Water Street, formerly Tampa Marriott Waterside. Conference photography has its challenges even for an experienced photographer like yours truly. The days are long and often push 12 hrs, starting with breakfast and ending after the reception and cocktails, but its something I really enjoy doing. Working a huge conference in a hotels grand ballroom sure gets your exercise too – it’s a perk.
Professional photography services like shooting conferences and conventions might be seen by some as boring or tedious, but I and my associate photographers shoot a lot of them. They can be both rewarding, challenging and educational. After all, you get to hear presentations and keynotes you might not have otherwise had access to which is a general perk in event photography.
Not only do we need to capture all aspects of the event but getting good candids of people enjoying the conference are key. You want to show the great networking and educational opportunities and give a general feel for what the conference can offer so your client has these photos. This conference featured Live on-stage whiteboard illustration by artist Hugh Bennewitz. I found that pretty cool.
