Greetings! Fashion season is happening all around the nation including here in the Tampa Bay area. This week, St. Petersburg designers are showcasing their individual collections in fashion shows during St. Pete Art & Fashion Week 2012. Fashion week gives the opportunity for buyers and the media to view the latest trends so we will know what’s “in” and what’s “out” for the season.
Although, the most prominent fashion weeks are held in the fashion capitals of the world, don’t leave our home, St. Petersburg out of the discussion. That is because St. Petersburg and the Tampa Bay area is home to some talented designers like Naomi McGregor, London Amara, Elizabeth Carson Racker, Helen Gerro, Troy Anthony, and Martine Alphonse. These designers are showcasing their collections during this year’s St. Pete Art & Fashion Week.
I was honored to be invited to the Opening Night Soiree. This opening was the official launch of St. Pete Art & Fashion Week and was organized by Arlene Williams, who went above and beyond to make the evening a true night to remember. She had the perfect idea to keep the atmosphere welcoming by having Rositsa, a pianist, keeping the perfect ambiance.
The event, held at American Stage Theatre, was attended by designers, models, special guests, sponsors, and spokespersons Cindy Stokes & Cathy Scott from the benefiting charity, the Children’s Dream Fund. It was a great evening with friends and industry leaders, and I can’t wait until the show on Saturday night at Progress Plaza in downtown St. Petersburg!
Among the artist at the season opener was Gina Marie, Duncan McClellan, BC Woo, Spathouse and London Amara. BC Woo, who painted on location, donated his work to benefit the charity, Children’s Dream Fund. You may recall reading about artist Duncan McClellan because I frequent Duncan McClellan Gallery during St. Petersburg Warehouse District 2nd Saturday Art Walks. You can see a positing about it here: Warehouse Arts District Art Walk. Spathose also presented during Dunedin Fine Art Wearable Art 8 that I also attended.
