Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) invited me as their conference photography during the 3 day conference at the Marriott Waterside Hotel in Tampa, Florida. Conference photography has its challenges but it’s always a great experience. ASHE convenes annually as a “community of scholars dedicated to the study of higher education. ASHE encourages proposals that advance knowledge and understanding of a wide range of issues pertaining to higher education as a field of study.”
What makes conference photography challenging is capturing the story of the event. That story wouldn’t be complete without photographing the various key note speakers at the podium at the best moment. Anyone who does speaking engagement photography knows its often a challenge to capture the split second that makes the speaker appear their best. Conference photography also makes you stand on your feet for hours as you cant really capture the event while sitting down.
As a seasoned event photographer in the Tampa Bay area I have been to the Tampa Marriott Waterside multiple times and the conference hotel did not disappoint. Check out a few of the conference photos!
