Over the past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing a very hyper boy and girl. Well these aren’t your typical children – they were dogs named Faith and Myster. Pets are family to many, and it was certainly true in this household. Myster is the newest addition to the residence, and her “mother” wanted portraits taken of him.
I will admit, this was my first photo session with pets as the primary focus. Since I have had many sessions with children who are often hyper, I thought I could get my subject to pose for me. As with children, to make the best photo you have to be at or near their viewpoint. That is the secret to taking great photos of your children or pets; to get down at their prospective. This is because photos look more interesting when you shoot from a prospective that you are not used to seeing. However, every time I got down, they thought it was play time and would come over for some love. I certainly couldn’t neglect this loving group, and obliged.
Myster came to this house from a rescue kennel just a few months ago, and because of this, his temperament was shy but loving. After I reviewed the photos, I was grateful to get some great images to deliver to their mother. I hope to come back in the future to photograph the entire family. You can see some of the images below.
