A Stunning Waterfront Wedding by a Tampa Wedding Photographer

Tampa Garden Club Wedding | Donnie & Rowan | Tampa Wedding Photographer

Donnie & Rowan’s wedding at the Tampa Garden Club was the perfect mix of waterfront elegance and laid-back Florida charm. Located right on Bayshore Boulevard in South Tampa, this venue is one of the most scenic spots for couples looking for a classic Tampa Bay wedding with stunning water views.

As a Tampa Bay wedding photographers, we were excited that my wedding client had chosen this venue – the natural light, greenery, and waterfront backdrop create endless opportunities for timeless wedding photos.

This wasn’t the first time we had the chance to work with Donnie & Rowan, and that made their wedding day even more meaningful to capture.

Back in 2025, Donnie reached out to us to photograph a surprise proposal at Sand Key Beach. He pulled off an incredible moment, and Rowan’s reaction was absolutely unforgettable.

Being there from the proposal to the wedding is one of the most rewarding parts of being a Tampa Bay wedding photographer. It allows us to tell a complete story – not just a single day.

Our approach to wedding photography is a blend of:

  • Natural posing
  • Candid storytelling
  • Clean, timeless edits

Donnie & Rowan’s wedding was full of genuine moments—from emotional reactions to fun dance floor energy and that’s exactly what we aim to capture for every couple.

What makes us unique as Tampa Bay wedding photographers is that we’re not just two people with cameras – we’re a team that understands how to tell a story together.

The result?
More coverage. More storytelling. More moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

If you’re planning a Tampa wedding, the Tampa Garden Club offers:

One of the ceremony spaces at the Tampa Garden Club overlooks the bay, giving couples a dreamy, coastal Florida backdrop without needing to step onto the beach.

For their wedding, Donnie & Rowan chose the garden ceremony location, which offered a more private and intimate setting.

The gardens and oak trees create a variety of natural settings – perfect for romantic portraits and candid wedding moments.

Florida weather can be unpredictable as it was for this March wedding. This venue gave the couples the best of both worlds with a backup ceremony location that we ended up not needing.

Many couples choose to do a first look because it allows for a more relaxed timeline and better overall coverage.

For couples getting married at venues like the Tampa Garden Club, a first look can make a huge difference not just emotionally, but in maximizing the time spent enjoying your wedding day instead of taking photos. We used the pillars at the front of the Tampa Garden Club, which created a natural separation while still allowing them to hold hands before seeing each other. It made for a quiet, emotional moment and gave us the opportunity to capture genuine reactions in a controlled, beautiful environment.

By seeing each other before the ceremony, we were able to:

  • Capture couple portraits earlier in the day
  • A private moment before your ceremony!
  • Free up more time during cocktail hour and reception for candid moments and family interactions.
  • Knock out wedding party and family photos ahead of time.

Donnie & Rowan had an incredible vendor team that helped bring their day together seamlessly:

  • Wedding Coordinator: Shonni Signature Weddings ensured everything ran seamlessly throughout the day. Having an experienced wedding coordinator is essential. They keep the timeline on track, handle logistics behind the scenes, and allow everyone (including the couple) to stay present and enjoy the moment.
  • DJ: DJ Patrick kept the energy going all night
  • Catering: Puff ‘n Stuff Catering delivered an amazing dining experience and a dessert donut bar
  • Officiate – Sandy Stringfellow / Mary You I do – huge shoutout to Sandy for such a meaningful ceremony.
  • Venue: Tampa Garden Club – for all the reasons mentioned in this blog!

Having a strong vendor team is key to a stress-free wedding day and it truly shows in the final photos.

One thing that made this wedding even stronger from a photography standpoint was Donnie & Rowan’s decision to add a second photographer – Xina, wife to Kyle Fleming. This was done later in the planning process. At first, they weren’t sure if they needed it. But at the wedding, they told me they were so glad they did.

As a husband-and-wife photography team, our approach is a little different than the traditional “primary and second photographer” setup.

We don’t assign roles like lead and assistant – we both shoot as lead photographers. The difference is, we don’t duplicate coverage. Instead, we work in sync and anticipate each other’s movements in real time.

That means if Kyle is tight on the first kiss, Xina is wide capturing the full scene – the reactions, the setting, and the emotion all in one moment.

  • Xina often leads bride prep, capturing those detailed, emotional moments
  • Kyle will float between both sides, often starting with the bride and then heading to the groom
  • During the ceremony, first dance, toasts, and reception, we instinctively cover different angles and perspectives

We’re both fully capable lead photographers, but instead of shooting the same thing, we intentionally capture different moments at the same time.
