Grand Prix of St. Petersburg

I am very excited to announce that I received Press Credentials for the IndyCar series Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg , a 3 day event that takes place from March 28th through 30th. This is the 10th Anniversary of the Grand Prix and the first year that the Grand Prix is title sponsored by Firestone; the 9 years prior it was sponsored by Honda. As in the prior years, that race is sure to be fun and will begin the 2014 Indycar season.

The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is a 1.8 mile waterfront track that features 14 turns and circles the Mahaffey Theater , the Salvador Dali Museum , the runways at Albert Whitted Airport, and also races on some of the downtown city streets. Don’t worry, they place barricads and catch fences throughout the track to keep you and the drivers safe. What makes this event very special is that much of he track is on St. Pete waterfront which makes it ideal for those fans and drivers from around the globe to enjoy sunny Florida. They don’t call this the Worlds Fastest Spring Break Party for nothing – if you blink you may just miss the car going by you at speeds up to 150 mph.

This post will be updated up through the event as the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg takes place.

The track build is always fun to watch. This photo was taken a few weeks ago and now the track is about complete as the race is less than 2 weeks away.
